fitting carbon fiber hood on 240sx
Decent carbon parts should work the way they're intended. If you paid $640 and it doesn't function the way it's supposed to, I don't think that's very high quality. Most of the price of that hood is because of the crazy carbon fiber prices at the moment.
By the way, many/most cars have hood latch shims available from the factory, you might see if you can track some down if the latch bail is having a hard time reaching far enough down to meet with the latch. Hood pins would be a safer solution though.. I believe if you look on ViS' site, you'll see "Hood pins are required"..

hood pins look like shit. ill get the latch eventually. i looked at it again today. its def the latch, vis hood is a very high quality made hood. imo
if it latches with the factory catch why would it peel. ive seen plenty of cars not running hood pins. hood pins also rust and look like shit, sparco too.
all i asked if anyone else has experianced hood fitment issues. i did not ask for a tutorial on quality cf hoods. just a simple question i thought.
Well...I put my cf hood on, and then closed it. I had a problem when I picked up one for my 95 coupe, but I just toyed around with the latch. It can't be that hard.
jared, crazy how you get bombarded by mostly ignorant remarks instead of help...
but thats drag for ya...
but is it possible to adjust hieght of the latch? i know hondas you can loosen and adjust to fit..not sure on 240's...
but thats the only thing i can think is that maybe the latches are a little different in size and not going down far enough for the latch to grab..
i also have had 3 vis hoods, all great fitment..all great look..with no probs
i think its probably from latch being removed for paint and all and might not have been installed in the exact spot it was in from factory...
duno if this helped, but good luck jared...
as always your more than welcome to bring it to the shop for help..
