whoever runs VDOT or is in charge of operations..
Just for your info, VA is ranked 2nd or 3rd in the country for roadways. As far as the concrete in the roads, you think you are complaining now, let them put asphalt in its place. They will be replacing it every 6 months. The concrete is used for high traffic areas for the big rigs cause the rigs leave indentions in the asphalt because of their weight, so if you want to gripe, you should do it to the 18 wheeler companies, and tell the to take their trucks off the road, which is a battle you will lose. Just my 2 cents.
yeah its deff not VA roads are crappy...cause i live in Lynchburg. roads are awesome here...its when i come to Va beach....I HATE IT...it tears ym car to crap every time...you have pot holes w/ cracks with potholes on cracks on potholes...it sucks in Va beach just from that, Hell actually any beach, Myrtle beach is just as bad...im just glad i live here not there.

The roads are so bad because its a tourist spot, and there are over 4 million vehicles traveling the roads everyday. How, and when do you fix them, every single pothole. Then when they do, everyone complains.......it just drives me nuts when someone gripes about something they know absolutely about.
its true actually. in VA beach a good percentage of our taxes actually GO to our F"ed up roads. but there are areas where its bad and some that are actually pretty damn good. there is a reason why we use the concrete crap.. i don't remember why but i'll find it out again. its something to do with our temp and humidty level, i believe its if we use a large amount of tar it wouldn't work or something or crack sooner than predicted. idk, i'll look it up. but here isn't as bad.. dude, philly has some REALLY F'ED roads.. omg.. i was glad i was driving my grandmothers stock civic or mine with it being lowered would have been eattin alive!! go north if you really want some bad roads.. its alot better here than most places.
It has to do with the water, you can put tar down but when the heavy vehicles continuously go up and down the roads, the asphalt begins to sink, then when it rains, the water seeps through and washes out the base material. Then you have a bigger problem, you'd have to shut down the whole road, what happens then, more people complain, so to make a long story short, concrete is much better than asphalt in certain areas.
