Sucked up water, help!
Okay well I tried cranking it up, and now the belt turns, and it sounds like it's trying to start but it won't. Checked the plugs and there is spark, next step is to do a compression test, but can't get a hold of a tester. Any other suggestions?
same thing happend to me in my car, i was driving and all of a sudden my car went over the hood in water and it died, everyone told me it was hydro locked becasue the started was doing what your talking about, but i went back out to it the next morning unplugged the spark plugs and shot the water out cleaned the plugs and put them back in had a freind try to start the car while i sprayed starter fluid in the intake, took a hell of a long time before it started but it did, i drove it home and it ran like ass, but got the oil flushed and cleaned out the system, havnt had a prob since and that was about 8 months ago
well that gives me hope at least. The guy I'm that's helping me with all this told me to avoid using ether as much as possible because it's bad for gasoline engines. True?
there is some home that it might be salvageable, but there is also a very good chance that you've bent a rod or valve. i've worked on a couple of hydrolocked motors, one ran and one didn't. its just the luck of the odds and how much water you actually sucked up and how long it tried to run with the water in it.
yeah i just sucked up water about a week ago. aparently the v2 intake doesnt come with a snorkel mechinissim so i sucked up water into my engine and boom threw a rod threw the engine block. anyone got a gsr motor for sale?
You need to get as much of the water out as possible so you wanna disconnect the fuel pump and pull the plugs and crank (make sure all the plugs are out). Keep doing this until your confident most the water is out. Also pull your intake off when you do it b/c the intake may still have water drops in it. Leave your intake in a dry area to let it completely dry out and wipe it down with a dry rag. Its advisable to do all this in a very sunny area so the sun can dry up all the excess water. When you think you've dried out the cylinders put a drop of oil in each one, replace the plugs, put the intake back and try to start it. Anytime you think you've hydrolocked a motor it is advisable to pull the plugs right then and there; when you push the car or try to tow it alot of times the crank moves causing the water to get compressed which can cause damage; without the plugs the water will just shoot out of the cylinders and won't become compressed.
