umm... weird question.. and maybe a dumb one... but how can they confiscate your detector if they cant find it? or if its hard wired? i know some of the Z6 guys have them wired up.. thats why im asking.
I have a Cobra that hides itself, but it is still detectable by SPECTRE, which is what the Virginia State Police use. To the best of my knowledge, there is not a detector on the market that can beat SPECTRE, but I'm far from an expert.
My train of thought is that a radar detector ticket is still cheaper than a speeding ticket and it doesn't effect your insurance.
State police use VG2. SPECTRE isn't used in the united states, only in other countries. not sure why, nor do I care. There also is one detector made by BEL that is undetectable by SPECTRE.

Spectre's ARE used in the US. Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, and a few others use them to enforce the federal ban on radar detector's in commercial vehicles.
Currently, there is a new Spectre IV that the VSP were testing. Its also believed that they have ordered around 50-75 of them. I will try to find the link, but someone took a picture of an unmarked VSP car that had a spectre.
Spectre detects ALL RD's except the Bel STi. The earlier of the current gen V1's faired well against the spectre too.
