Better casting on the 99+ and the cylinder walls are a little thicker. Thats the main two differences that I have always heard. I would just pick up a set of 0.005 over pistons and lightly hone the cylinders so you can keep them as thick as possible if you go the LS1 route.

Is this the one you were advertising a few months ago, still had all the accessories and such on it?

I've got a 72 2002 that I had been thinking about going SBF with...but I heard a story in the intratooberwebernets about how the LS1 can't lose!?!

how come the ls1's cant keep the heads down with that many bolts?

Cylinder pressure vs. clamping force I guess... As far as manual trannies go, seems like the cars start to push some water in the 850-950rwhp range; above that and it's a head gasket. The LSX blocks have 6 bolts/cyl and are somewhat new... so folks a little time to get their act together before they proliferate. It's just a matter of time though Check out what they are capable of... This guy made 890RWHP at 10psi, and 1090RWHP at 19psi http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=804656

i was just curious, we dont have but 10 bolts per side and i really never had a problam with lifting heads... i know alot of people are going to lsx stuff, and i think nmca even has a class just for that motor.

as far as the topic on hand goes, i have a block with the crank still installed. $250 come get it. Crank is still good and has never been removed..... the motor was removed because of a bent rod.

I just dont have much time to be on the net anymore. my daughter takes up a lot of my time as well as finding time to go to the gym after work and such. however tomorrow ill be doing some finishing touches on the car and probably hit up MIR on the 18th.
