the grounds on it r fine i think the alternator is broke idk and its in lynchburg but what does that half to do with anything

my alternator went out on me and what you are describing is exactly what i experienced..if you take it to a local advanced or autozone they can benchtest it for free

i was told a trick to testing the alternator without taking it off the car...hook up a voltage tester to the battery and open the trottle it should read 17 volts i believe, correct me if im wrong, but if it reads less then it is running all battery and the something is wrong in the alternator

You're wrong and your post whoring is pretty lame as well. 14.9 volts is plenty high enough for an alterator/voltage system. And an easy way to test for a bad alternator is simply start the car, then disconnect the negative battery lead (and yes, it DOES matter because direct current goes from negative to positive in "flow") and if the car dies, your alternator is usually junk or the charge line is shot.

Altinator. get the car started and running and pull off a battery cable, if the car cuts off, it is definately the altinator.
