Most of the time taken to load pages is from taglines. Without tagline images, the text-only pages load up in approx 2 seconds on a 56k modem. With images, can take 3 minutes or longer. Big difference.
When people are considerate of others, everyone gets to play (and read).

Considering all the images in every Godspeed member's sig are the same thing (so you only load it once,) I guess you're not talking to us?

Many Central VA DragVA members have asked me to fix/upgrade/update their computers. First question they ask is, can you make my machine faster? Many are on 56k dial-ups and are distressed about how long it takes for pages to load. Asked them for examples, then showed them the differences between with and without pictures.
As you may agree, text-only looks like crap. Larger images that are causing problems were from several users. Over the past month and a half, you may have noticed several users adjusting their posts to contain simple taglines with a very small image (if any) as soon as they understoof the issue.
Was bringing the issue to the forefront for the rest who may not have been aware of the problem. I don't mind being branded the asshole (or complainer) if it's for the good of the group when others are unable or unwilling to voice what I have said. Have done so before.
Those who have met me personally know that I am very passive in nature, but speak my mind openly in a non-hostile manner. Those who have been to my house have seen my networks and bandwidth, so the image loading for me is not a personal concern.
My posting of the tagline issue was not intended to be offensive to anyone. Posted it to highlight a concern, and to post commonly acceptable guidelines that would show a courtesy to others on slower connections.
I am sorry if you took personal offense.
