you need to check the following

one: you have a sufficient supply of oil (prefferably good oil)

and two: that your timing belt is not fudged... because mine was it started sorta ticking then i took it to the shop, it ended up being my timing was off and some other shit, so be careful not to run 'er into the ground..

it sounds like from what your saying tho that the lifters are getting insufficient oil flow to keep them from 'tinking'
yea...thats what i was thinking! I think that my timing belt might be off! Do you think the timing belt could come loose and make that kinda noise? Its weird because it only happens when the engine is cold!

The H22a Honda motor does not have lifters! Sounds to me that the valve adjustment was not done properly or you have another problem. Are you using factory pistons? Factory valve springs?

ya... sounds like whoever did your valve adjustments might not have tightened up your valves all the way and maybe widdled out of place a bit?

Yes i am using OEM everything! Do you think a bent valve could make a noise like that? I mean i already had a compression test done and everything checked out ok.

it could. have you been raping the rev limiter? more then likely the valve adjustement wasnt done correctly... or maybe he/she forgot to tighten one down completely and its worked alittle loose.

A bent valve will normally make the car run pretty poor. I am thinking the valve adjustment was not done properly or the valve tappets were not tighted enough.

I would recommend changing the oil to a syntec blend, and see if it continues... my dad suggested to put a screw driver to your ear then place it on the valve cover and you can hear where the ticking is comming from... if it is comming from all valves on every cylinder then its your timing, if its comming from one or two then something is stuck...good luck bud
