And of course snow tires are going to make a difference.
Maybe... I never had any issues with my mustang or maverick...even in three inches of ice or lots of snow. Just did what I was taught and took it very easy and slow.

I have a 97 M3 which is the first year that they came with traction control and I do just fine in the ice. I haven't had a chance to take her on the snow, but I think she do fine then too. My husband has a 95 M3 and I can tell the difference between the two when the weather is bad, even in the rain.

Well, I mean I got to where I needed to go. I obviously didn't drive like I would in dry conditions.

Yeah, but always know that TC will only do so much.. Don't be like the 4X4s and Subaru's you see in the ditch every winter who think they are some how special and do not need to show respect for the road conditions.

Tires is what makes a difference on these cars if you can afford a cheap set of "snow rims" and swap them at the begining of the snow and ice season you will be fine. Many M3 owners have two sets of wheels and tires. But on a set of performance tires these cars are worse than my Camaro.

Awesome, thanks for the comments. I went to check out one last night and it was beat to death, raped, and neglected. Not to mention the "dealer" was asking nearly full retail.

Someone find me a clean black '99 coupe without any issues for a fair price and I'll give you a cookie.

Really soft snow tires make a good difference (bridgestones are great!). Then again if you drive like an asshole in the snow, it doesn't matter what tires you use.

Theres plenty of people who drive Bimmers in the snow with no problems.

Mine has DSC [Dynamic Stability Control] and the yellow circle arrow light thingy would illuminate on the dash when the traction control activated. My brother's driveway in Manassas is 200 feet long at a 45 degree steep angle. Even with Michelin all season tires I went straight up it in the middle of a bad snowstorm unplowed. Mine's a 325 but my buddy just got rid of his M3. I think it was an '03; without a maintenance package be prepared to pay through the nose with maintenance/mechanical issues. Other than that I love my Bimmer and wouldn't go with anything else. Good luck with your decision.
