what color is the smoke?

so the smoking cured itself? did it happen all the time before and now it never happens or it happens at random times?
white means coolant which means it could be the headgasket but that doesn't seem to lend itself to what you're describing.
I'm running out of ideas without more information. If it were my car I would do a quick compression check and go from there.

the shaking can be described as anything really.
bad detonation makes the car shake at wot.
worn pressure plate.
bad throw-out bearing.
Like Heat said...do a compression check.
p.s there should be NO smoke coming from anywhere in your intercooler pipes. ie...if you fixed it by just clamping it up...logic states its still smoking...you're just not seeing it anymore.
gluck with it man.
