Guitar lessons
As far as lessons go, you can never go wrong with grabbing a few lessons but I personally got a lot more out of just locking myself in a room for a couple of hours a day.
any reccomendations on what to get? i am currently working out of town, my ot just got cut back so i have plenty of time in the afternoon. this is the kit i was looking at. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-I...77-i1168767.gc again, i am open to suggestions. i just did not want to spend a ton then loose intrest.
There's your answer, it's like a grandma driving a ferrari, yeah she'll get from point a to point b but the car is wasted. Same idea w/ a guitar. Why spend a grand on an instrument you just want to kill time on. Plus it takes time to develop your ear, so you would barely notice the difference. Personally I don't really care for electrics unless you're in a band, acoustics are so much more dynamic (unless you're Kenny Wayne Shepherd). But whatever, electrics can be fun too. I just think you learn so much more about the intricacies of the guitar w/ an acoustic instead of just slashing away on an electric (that gets old real quick).
i like the sound of the acoustics, but most of the music i listen to is electric. a couple of the guys that are down here with me brought their guitars with them. they both have acoustics, and the one guy has a washburn electric. they showed me a D and a G on it last night. i was told that action on an acoustic was more difficult. i smashed my left wrist last year so my hand is still not 100% and after playing that electric i think i would have a rough time with an acoustic. however, i did find a nice looking oscar smith in the local pawn shop for $160
You can get thinner strings on an acoustic that may help w/ that problem, otherwise whatever feels best. Just cause a song's originally played on an electric doesn't mean it won't sound just as good (just different) on an acoustic.

Thats the guitar I started out on. I fucking love it.
I get hooked up at GC alot- I spend so much on drums there.
I walked out of there with the guitar, a case, and a strap for $325

maybe tonight i should strum one of the acoustics to see how it feels then. its not like i have to make a decision today. it looks like the plus to an acoustic is that you dont have to drag around a bunch of stuff
If you must have an electric I recommend one of these

The reason why he said learn first is so if you take lessons, you can learn more in the given time you spend @ wherever you're learning from. Make the most out of your money that way.
