Premium gas used? I'm assuming it doesn't have any sludge?

yes premium gas always used. mobile 1 synthetic 0w40 and oem audi oil filter used for every oil change. never seen any "sludge"

Well if premium gas was used you shouldn't have any. It's not from the oil, it's from the type of gas you used and builds up inside the engine. Have you ever checked the throttle body for sludge?

honestly no. i have never really taken the motor apart. aside from the dealer replacing a water neck and a few oil seals. it is a very strong, clean running engine. i am still getting the same kind of gas mileage i got when i first bought it over 40k miles ago. so its not like it is in a bad state of tune.
