This may not be your problem, so don't take this as an accusation, but way too many enlisted personnel live way beyond their means. For example, if you're an E4, you probably shouldn't go buy $35k sports car, but I see it happen all the time. Some even live on base, eat at the chow hall, and still have no money. Or even simple, common-sense things like waiting to have children if you are only an 18-yr-old E2. This is no way to live.
Our military is not underpaid by any stretch of the imagination, but fiscal responsibility is not taught to our young enlisted men and women.
I've been saying for years that there needs to be a "How Not to Manage Your Money Like a Dumbass 101" course in every high school. Fisical knowledge is more or less passed down to you from your parents and most parents are ill-equipped.
I dont \"need\" another job. But I might like to take a huge vacation around Christmas and instead of putting it on a credit card or dipping into savings why not work for a few months to have a little extra fun?
