the bike wont be the expensive part. find some vins of bikes similar to what you wanna buy and see if you can afford the insurance first. im at odu as well and i know it will be crucial trying to afford the insurance, the bike payment and go to school.

in all honesty if you want to pay 100 bucks a month on a loan on a bike thats anything other than new youll need to look at spending realistically between 1500-2500 on the bike itself. this is easy if you are looking at 250R's and maybe even 500's. be patient. take the MSF course BEFORE you buy your bike. and buy ALL your gear before you even think about getting on a bike so you wont be tempted to go all squid.

First, GO take an MSF Course! I know theres a wait but i def. do that 1st.

Second, don't skimp on gear, Get a good helmet, Jacket, gloves, wear at least a good pair of Jeans and get some nice boots.

Thirdly, Dont ride faster than your guardian angel, take it slow and learn the basics.

Do not buy a new bike, I would suggest something cheap like an old 250 or 500. Learn on that for a season and then maybe move up.

Reason i say this is due to the fact you will drop it. and you will be less butt hurt with that than a new bike.

I think your first motorcycle should be bought with cash. That way if anything would happen i.e. accident. I know i wouldn't want to be still paying for something that is unusable. Another point is sounds like your young so insurance is going to be just as much as payments.Take your time and start out slow you have penty of time to get a bigger bike .

Wanna buy my Busa?? Nice big comfy bike that is real safe......

Ok on a serious note look into insurance when I was buying my bike Allstate wanted 15k a year to insure it. Your best bet is to save some money and pay cash for it.

Listen to these guys, take the MSF course before you buy the bike. This will actually be perfect timing for you to save up, and by the time an MSF is open (mid september for me) bikes will be going down. Keep saving, and pick up a bike in winter.
I did the same thing, got a bike and my parents didn't know until DMV sent my a letter at home saying I forgot something lol. They were pissed, but honestly take the MSF and pick up a 250 or old 600 in winter for cheap with cash. Thats my 2 cents from a kid who was in your position a year ago. good luck
