The ticket and the recked car wont be in my record until March, when my insurance renews, and they wont give me a quote of what it would be like when it all kicks in. So I really dont know if I will be able to afford it or not but I think Im sticking to the civic idea. Thanks anyways.

By the way I was wondering. I did a quick search online to find tires and rims didnt find much. Where do you guys get yours from?
thanks,
Leo

A lot of 4 cylinder cars run 13X8 inch wheels with some 225 or 235 tires. Maybe Beno will chime in on this. He runs a honda and has the exact tires I am talking about. Eric ran some on his VW before he moved away. Smaller is better. Screw worrying about shifting. At the most you will shift 2-3 times on a course but you will get the advantage of those 225-235's on every corner and the reduced gearing will help you come out of every corner faster as well. That is what you need to consider. The wheels I am referring to are called "Kiaser's" Dont know how they are spelled but they are super light and not intended for anything but racing.

The widest I saw on tirerack for Kuhmo V700 victoracer are
205/60VR13
205/55VR14
225/50ZR15

Im sure other tires have different sizes but I checked the tires that I was adviced to go with.

Also, dont I want a smaller tirewall? like 50
What other brand of tires do you guys recommend?
thanks!!

I believe the tires you would need to run are hoosiers for that application. Of course, there might be some r-compounds out there that size, but I haven't really looked for them.

I bought the Konig Traffiks, 15x6.5, 12.5lbs, for $444 shipped from tires.com . i can't wait to try them out

Kuhmo makes a 225/45/15 that is the same height as the 205/50/15 It is the Victoracer. They fit great on 7 inch rims.

I'll have to look into those, they were not listed at tirerack. The rims I want, as far as Ive seen, only come in 15x6.5, but I would definetely be able to look for something else if the 1/2" really make that much of a difference. What kind of rims do you recommend. Just light weight, Im thinking they dont have to be forged or anything since I will only be racing at the track I wont need to worry about potholes or anything...... oh wait, at Pungo Ive seen some of the worst potholes ever But yeah, what rims are recommended and how much do they weigh?
thanks!!

Yes, they are listed. You are just looking at the Victo rather then the Ecsta tire. You had someone recommend the Victo but the Ecsta is just as good if not better. It went thru a compound change and as a result is better for autocrossing now. Not a Hoosier but good enough for a novice that is for sure. I just looked and you can also get a 235/45/13 in the Ecsta tire. That would be great if you can fit a 13 over brakes.

I will have to look into those. How wide of a 13" rim would I have to get? I dont really know if I want to go with 13s though. I mean, I know its good for low torque cars, but I do have GSR engine and the car is stripped. Plus I plan on building the engine in the future to get more low end power. I think Im going with 15s unless you more experienced drivers really think I shouldn't. I wish I could have all this done by this weekend. But right now all I have is 2 severly bent rims on the passenger side. I have to check and make sure that the suspension wasn't damaged.
thanks for the info, keep it coming!!

I am not saying the 13's are the best option for every 4 cylinder car. I am saying that you want to get as much tire under the car as rules will allow and still fit over the brakes. At min I would suggest going with the 225 size in either 14 or 15. I would also not just look at the kuhmo tires but get a wheel that will hold a hoosier so if you decide to get real serious you don't need new wheels. The 225/45/15 might be a good comprimize for you. Not sure. Go to the specs on the tire rack site and you can look at what size wheel you need to fit that tire. You want the wider wheel. Don't choose the 6.5 inch wheel if that is on the low end of the range that the manufacture recommend. Look for the high end. That means a 7 inch wheel at min to run the 225 size tire.
