also who carries this battery wire? home depot? i was going to do this soon also and i was going to use amp wire, but like you said its easy to run but not isulated as much...

Don't go any smaller than 2 gauge. I would go to advance and get the wire you need. They keep it behind the counter. It only cost me $1.38 a foot compared to over $10 a foot at most audio shops and online.

It's insulated as much, the insulation on amp wire isn't as tough or chemical resistant usually. It sure is pretty though, if that's what you're going for. Battery cable is meant to take higher temps, solvents, and more abuse.

Or just run a smaller battery. I have a 13lb Odyssey battery, it knocked 32lbs off of the front end, and I didn't add weight running cable to the back of the truck. Plus to be legal at the track you have to add a cutoff switch on the back of the car if you relocate the battery.

If you're not doing it for racing, then nm
