need someone to install OS for me ... $$!
If you have a legally owned serial number, you can use another person's installation cd.
If you have someone install software for you without that legal serial number, you both face prison and huge fines. Microsoft checks for valid serial numbers for every time you attempt to get an update and patch.
If you post on this message board a request for illegal software (which you did not since you claimed to have a valid and legal serial number), the owners of this site can be held responsible for providing a forum for illegal trade since the message boards are moderated by admins. That shit ain't cool.

EDIT: *I know you just stated that, sorry***
There's nothing illegal about getting a copy of an installation disk.
It's only illegal if uses a product key that he doesn't own. He already stated that he has a key, who cares what he does with it, he didn't get it here.

why dont you just reformat your comp. if you bought the comp with it already installed . it should restore it self when u do a system restore . most comps have a one button restore when u boot the comp up just hit the f10/f11/f12 key (normally a black screen tht will say system restore/format hit f10/f11/f12 norm one of those buttons on boot up will take u to sytem restores) . just make sure u back up ur file/pic/ or anything u want to keep before doing so . but it sound like ur comp will not even get that far to save anything .

ya, i dunno if i can trust an OS from torrent. I got into this hairy situation from illegally watching the new episode of the Office not from NBC lol.
question: XP home VS XP Pro. My Laptop came OEM with XP home says the sticker on the bottom, yet I have reasons to believe it has the Pro edition installed since it does not say Home under Windows XP upon start up. It is possible my dad had the OS upgraded before he gave it to me. My question is are the CD keys interchangeable?

d/l the disc from torrent quit being a pus... if not, one of your friends has to have this lame install disc. just get ubuntu, problem solved
wow....all this nonsense over an xp install..... damn I love this place. but yeah, your best bet would probably be to either restore your OS to factory spec or download it from a torrent. my advice..... try to latter but know that driver installation can be troublesome if you don't already have them.
happy thanksgiving
