Yesterday, I was coming home from school and I noticed a cop following me. I was not speeding or doing anything out of the ordinary. His lights flashed so I stopped thinking wtf is going on. He writes me up for having an "illegal exhaust."
I have a ractive MT631C
He said anything that is not stock is illegal because of a sound increase. I plan on fighting this and arguing that my header/intake caused extra airflow and it was not the exhaust's sound.
Does anyone else have any suggestions on what I should do?

First off im not a ricer...this is my first car. I am just trying to learn to do my own work and such for later on. My dad has a Z06, so I was just trying to fit in and learn to drive stick. Don't be ignorant when someone asks a simple question. I was looking for help and by calling me a fucking idiot and ricer help was not given. Grow up and stop talking shit to kids in high school.

It mostly depends on what and where you drive...
I have yet to get a ticket with my HKS but I drive around in burke and im in a gray lexus. I kind of blend in... I have friends in the fairlakes/fairfax area who have gotten pulled over tons of times for an exhaust that looks and sounds stock...
Also people in modified looking honda's... sad but true your going to get pulled over because they know its about 5 possible tickets on your car, they will look for cats, measure how low you are, tint, exhaust, illegal lights... Its dumb and sad but its how they make their money.

theres no point in fighting it now, just pay the ticket online, and go from there. if you can get the president to drop this law more props to u, but in this case your like everyone else getting fucked by the police.

There have been bills looked at with a decibel rating instead of looking at an exhaust to see if it is "legal" or not. However no such bill has passed the General Assembly.
Another source of the problem is that in places(ie: Fairfax) where the cops screw with people over petty things, the general voting public doesn't acknowledge it. If it affected more people on a larger scale then the voters would talk to their reps and get the situation solved. Prime example being how much stink the civil penalties got and how fast it was overturned.
