Nissan GTR VSPEC Announced 170K??
If they were still trying to compete with the vette. They lost hard on this one.
ZR1 > GT-R SPEC-V
co-developed with Brembo, save 11 pounds per wheel and generate titanic stopping force (up to 2.0 G at the Nürburgring) but cost more than $50,000 to overhaul.
So... I don't get how you can say that a similar (or the same) brake system will be 8-9x more expensive... and they're not even talking purchase price, they're talking about serivce costs apparently. So... I'm going to say it's just another exaggeration based on the statistic that used to float around that an Enzo's brake job was $30,000... whether or not it is... I have no clue.
Oh... Yeah... Nissan = Fail... For that price that car should have more power. But with more power it'd break the fragile transmission that much more often. If I'm spending $170,000 It wouldn't be on that. It'd start w/ a 'F' and end with a 'errari'.
Yeah I don't get it...is Nissan marketing seeing something that none of us are? You'd think they'd be scaling down stuff like this considering the times. Are there a ton of people somewhere buying up these GTR's?
After that whole Nurburgring debacle w/ Porsche the GTR has really become a bit of a joke. Sad.

Suspension, with Bilstein Damptronic struts, is set up to be ultra-stiff, to racing spec, and the SpecV also introduces Nissan's first carbon-ceramic brakes for production. These massive brakes, co-developed with Brembo, save 11 pounds per wheel and generate titanic stopping force (up to 2.0 G at the Nürburgring) but cost more than $50,000 to overhaul.
I remember reading that replacing the brakes on an Enzo cost $32,000.

Honestly... this is probably a writer exagerating a rumor etc... they like to do that. The ZR1 has Brembos develooped for the Ferrari FFX (suepr Enzo), yet buying them from GM they cost about $1100 per rotor and $1500ish per caliper. There's a vendor on the Corvetteforum that will sell the pieces at cost and it comes out to about $7000 total in parts. Per GM the rotors will last the life of the car when not being raced.
