yes; the website recommends using titanium springs to avoid valve float, but I didn't experience trouble with that.

compared to a cammed LS1 it's not lopey at all. you can tell sort-of, but it's not obnoxious. it idles fine. I ran it tuned on uberdata and didn't push it until I got the tune, but I don't imagine it'd be much of a problem running it without a tune; the risk would be in running the mixture too lean, and you should be able to detect a knock if it's prevalent. You could look on honda-tech and see if there are any threads about it; I'll check whenever I get the chance as well.
