I can tell you now, even without admin input, that this won't happen. There isn't a big enough call for it and as Paul said, this is a car forum. If people are too lazy to search the "other" section for guns, they probably don't want or need them badly.
I know it's a car website, but they added all the new subforums in the Off Topic Section. Why not make it easer to get around and find what you are looking for is my argument.

Although it's a GREAT suggestion, I'm not for it. Even though I'm a gun owner I'm not buying into a guns/ammo classified section. Use craigslist. People can use the search feature in Off-T. The reason I'm not for it is because it'd just be another place to moderate and there are too many of those already that need help in a big way. It's not a bad idea though. I'd enjoy it- just not yet.

What about a "Gun" prefix being available in there? I haven't messed with the prefixes much, but can you narrow a search using them? If not, then there's no point to adding it.

Yes you can search based on prefixes, however you can just as easily search for "gun" or whatever particular model you're looking for

The point of prefixes is/was to unify what everyone was calling the same thing. We had too many variations on what people were calling for sale, i.e. they were using for sale, fs, f/s, etc. It was even messier with for sale or trade threads.

I am for the prefix idea... it wouldn't hurt anything, and then we can search specifically for guns.

Well you're not getting it

Prefixes are for abbreviations not search terms and to help narrow down searches not used as a basis for a search. If a gun prefix was added you wouldn't be able to use the current ones, so then what? Gun threads put FS, FT or WTB in the thread title? No thanks.

There is a chance that at some point in the future a gun sub-forum would be added, although probably not anytime soon. There is zero change of a gun prefix being added.
