Detailers in Williamsburg
Again , I appreciate the help and information guys.
Clay bar does not remove the clear coat. Using a machine glaze or harsh polish might take off a tenth of a mil. There is about 4 to 6 mils of paint maybe a little more on the newer cars. Remember if you want a super slick shine without the orange peel you got to wet sand the clear with 13 micron and machine buff it back to a gloss with fine compound, machine glaze, and the 3m hand glaze. Tape up your windshield and rubber trim and all the edges before buffing,it makes your clean up easier. I buffed hundreds of cars over the past 25 years. Clay bar it makes the polishing job easier.
Yeah, you wet sand, but you only do that once. People have been convinced that they need to clay bar every month and they simply do not. It does take off a bit of the clear. A very very very very small amount, but still more than not doing it at all. I'm with Larry. http://www.carcareonline.com/viewarticle.aspx?art=0
BTW, Eraser, it looks like I have to be out of town this weekend, so if you want to do it this weekend I can't help you

Thats usually what I do , though I use the texico on the corner of richmond rd and ironbound. What Im doing isnt really good enough anymore , and as marlin said I need to stop who ever is putting the swirlmarks on the finish. Well that person is me unfortunately. So I figured it was time to put this into the hands of a far more capable person than myself.
