FCLP's (Field Carrier Landing Practice)
They are keeping up their quals for carrier landings while still shore based.
Probably getting close to the cut off date for quals so they are tossing every one up in a jet.

and now with all the massive reduction in flights in general, i get startled some times when they do high powered turns, or something crazy like vertical climbs, it is still cool to watch though

i slept through that shit all the time, especially when they didn't give a shit about doing night flights, there would be formations going over my house all night, shaking the shit out of everything, and i would not even know it until my dad would bitch the next morning,
