edit: unless your wiring a bunch of them.

sounds like your fuse was burned at the end on the inside, have had that happen to me a few times.
i would'nt reccomend using the remote wire if it's comming from the radio, like the blue wire.

Don't ever do that again. Seriously. Use a real method to find out if you have power or not, like a multimeter (or even a test light in a pinch).

If you screwed the fuse holder together and it started working, that may be a problem with the fuse holder or it may be a broken fuse. Those screw together fuse holders are garbage usually.

For the fan wiring, you can either get a temperature-based fan controller or just use a relay switched with the remote turn on wire. If you use a relay, make sure that the remote turn-on wire has enough current capability to switch the relay coil on. This depends on the type of relay and the head unit obviously.

+1 if you try to hook the fans up to your remote wire then it will just fry the output on the radio, you need to use a relay.

get rid of the the fuse and get a breaker. i have a mobile spec one and its amazing, if it trips all you gotta do is just flip it back on. saves from a lot of hassle.

Breakers aren't without their problems either. I prefer wafer fuses, but breakers are OK too.

Okay...

The fans:
I bought a radioshack 12v computer fan roughly a 4inch circumference...
output on this fan was higher than any other there.

I'm going to try this fan alone and see if my overheating problem occurs.

should i still use a relay, if so... what size? where to buy? what kind? lol i'm veryfamiliar with electronics but never played with relays yet

I'm off work tomorrow if anyone wants to throw in a hand or word of advice... i get up round 8ish... 757 927 9639 located in portsmouth. (cradock)

thanks a million for the reply's and great tips guys!
