Got the car back from VA Speed today... new catch can, adjusted valvetrian + gears

3.89s to replace the 3.50s. This will allow me to hit top speed in 5th at VIR and use 3rd off of oak tree. W/ the 3.50 gears I never touched 5th and the slower parts of the track were in between gears. Interestingly the Panoz GTS race car comes w/ 3.89 gears and a TKO 600 trans. The Tremec 3550 we have in the car has the same .82 5th gear.
So you swapped out the TKO 600 for the 3550? Or did it come with the 3550? The TKO 600 was the replacement for the discontinued 3550, and I wouldn't be surprised that they may share gears if that wasn't part of what was upgraded for the TKO 600.

GTRA (what we have) - are the Panoz driving school cars. They come w/ a stock 302, tremec 3550, soft suspension, and no rear swaybar
GTWC - Panoz spec racers. They come w/ the 4.6 DOHC motor, Penske shocks, but all else the same as the GTRA
GTS - GT2 car. Comes w. a FMS 5.8 making about 460 hors, upgraded suspension, TKO 600, and a diff cooler.
We've basically modded our car to w/ all of the GTS bits other than the big motor, diff cooler, and fancy shocks etc.
The car we have came w/ the tremec 3550 and it's fine for our 360 horse motor.

Sorry... been playing w/ my traqmatge data all night checking out all the cool stuff it can do. Panoz hit 139 best on the back straight, 133 best front. Was leaving the uphill esses at 112-115 mph. Tighter apex in oak-tree allows more pull down the back straights vs. taking it wide and late apexing it.
My best lap in traffic was 2:11.5. My bes tlap running TTS last time out w/ NASA w/o any traffic at all was 2:11.3. Traqmate calculated the theoretical best lap from my best session this weekend at 2:09.7. That's taking your best segment times and adding them together.
No pics... sorry... car did great w/ the gears, but oil temps were up about 15 degrees due to running higher rpms more often. Also I was just nipping the rev limiter in 3rd coming out of hogs pen... that was the only place the 3.89s were a bit short. I'd come close to the limiter through nascar bend, coming into the uphill esses, and at the bottom of roller coaster diping into hogs pen. So... I may destroy the 5.slow soon... who knows.
Some say they're ok up to 6500 rpms others say certain death awaits over 5800 rpms... we'll see. I ran in the red group (advanced) and was pretty much the fastest car on track (lap time wise). Never got passed all weekend. I had a C6 LS2 t1 car to play with and that was fun. He was running high 2:12s to my 2:11s in traffic. He had me in the straights, but I had him in turns/braking.
I had one Boxster owner sent his instructor over to yell at me for "running him off the road". That was funny... I got on his bumper coming into 4 and he freaked out and jerked the car off to the right and went off track almost into the tires. Apparently he "thought" I wasn't going to wait for the point and was trying to dive bomb on the inside. So... eventhough I didn't do anything wrong, because he assumed I was going to dive bomb hime and freaked out, he felt the need to send his instructor to speak with me... what a pussy.
Listened to countless people argue over wheter it was a Viper or RX-7. Looking forward to running TTS in october. Have a slight coolant seep from the passenger side head. Have to re-torque the heads an dmanifold. Hope that fixes it.
