No. I had a couple of mr2 turbos that I did turbo swaps on, but I always used the most efficent turbo I could. I have never been big on turbo lag, and never made more than 300whp with them, but they were a blast.

i got a 50 a/r .68 hot on my b16 spools great hardly no lag if any at all.

it will lag for him. I had the same turbo specs that you mentioned boost came in at 4k on my b18c.

You will have to shell out more then $1800 if you want a car running turbo setup. (ecu, tuning etc)

You need to go with a t3 turbo setup.
T3/T4 manifold
2.5" piping for the exhaust will be fine
38mm waste gate is good
maybe a Precision turbo T3 or T4 Turbo


You will have to run it on low boost less then 8 psi to stay safe unless you get a different head gasket you can add 1 or 2 psi but you will be pushing it.

yea i dont want to push anything, i just want it to be a reliable weekend cruiser with about 270-300 hp.

my stock b16 has been on 10psi for a year and no problems at all. make sure you get a good tune.

GT28R (not GT28RS). I loooove those things. It's actually a GT2560, so I don't know where the GT28 family name came from.

Probably a little pricey though unless you can find a used one. I don't think that and all the other stuff you'll need is going to come in on/under budget. I think they're around $1k new.
