Re: primering a car
depends on if u want a gun spray or a can spray. if u want to save some money wet sand ur car as it is now with some 400 grit and tape up windows and such and paint with spray can u can do a small car with about 6 cans. i used a satin black paint from wal-mart like 3.97 a can i had it on a car with no problems for over a year and a half. take ur time and it will look great....its not a primer and its not a gloss so it doesnt look flat and u dont see overspray. look on honda-tech at rattle can paintjobs

Re: primering a car
1. tape off
2. 320 or coarser grit paper depending on what you are doing
3. 320 is fine to scuff up the clear.
4. wash and degrease
5. use tack cloth
6. spray ecthing primer on bare metal surfaces
7. Use high build primer
8. block Sand with 400-600 grit
9. Wash car
10. re mask and tape off
11. tack cloth
11. use acetone or denatured alcohol to clean body
12. ready to paint
Its not perfect but it will get you started.
