Thanks Gear. I ordered one but I'd love to hear what dad says. So how did you become an Iron Maiden fan? I saw them in concert when you were two years old! Man I'm getting old. Like the new CD?

no problem, ohh i was watching some old movie and i heard 'number of the beast' playing in the backround.. i was like holy shit who is this? so i checked the credits and it was iron maiden.. i downloaded abunch of their songs and pretty much fell in love with em. i havent gotten to pick up the new cd yet, but i did get the 2002 greatest hits album about a week ago, its got eddie on the front with all the wolfs around him.. its got wicker man, number of the beast, etc. all the hits. its really too bad they are not comming state-side any time soon. im thinking about joining the fan club tho

i read an article from circus magazine that said it was "closer to their old style metal" so it must be awsome!!! oh yea my dad wont be back tel saturday (hes in holland at their sarah lee plant) and ill ask him the question then. i was thinking about it and im pretty sure you can use a thermal sensor like people use for computers.. theyre digital, and so small as to not interfere with the intake movment (the probe is about the size of a hair) i dont see how you couldnt just rig that up to a switch.. the parts for that would only be like 20-30 bucks from an online pc store.. ill do some hunting tonight when i have more time.

It would be better if the sensor wasn't right in the air stream, but it all depends on what kind of accuracy you're looking for. It will be great for keeping track of changes in temp with different setups and boost levels, etc., but your actual temp may really be something a bit different.

It's kinda the same as an intercooler. The intercooler will cool better at 60MPH than at 20MPH, even though the air outside is the same temp at any speed. What I'm saying is that if the sensor is right in the airstream, you will get a different reading at different velocity (higher flow) levels, even if the air temp in the intake is the same. It all has to do with freestream cooling and stuff.. A shroud in front of the sensor might help with that problem, but that might disturb the flow down the intake. How much I don't know. May not even be an issue.

Only one way to find out...

you could concievably make a small shroud so the sensor is not just dangling in the wind.. but i still dont see why that would affect the temprature...

Are you talking about "wind chill"? I see your point but I'm just looking to see broad changes. I also want to see differences in setup not the actual temperature, ya know.

wind chill wouldnt affect the sensor, wind chill is some BS term made by weathermen. We have a thin layer of heated air around our bodies, when the wind takes it away it has a chilling effect. thus making it cooler feeling than it really is. that should and will not affect the thermal sensor.
