get a stethoscope and listen to the lower end of the motor. but i'm wondering if if could be a valve train noize. it's kinda hard to heard on my pc....

 

usually the scratching noise you hear on the ka from the timing chain area is the chain rubbing the chain cover. it happens when the chain gets alot of slack and the tensioner gets weak. the rattleing and knocking is from the chain slapping around. i would def do a chain kit and replace it all.

 

time for sr20 i wouldnt take the chance of being stranded or blow the motor on the highway i would start saving for a new motor
