Re: 95 GSR spring and shocks replacement
Anytime you mess with the suspension of your car you should always get it aligned.
Especially when dealing with aftermarket stuff.
Honda's are very easy to replace suspension on, but if you've never done it, I suggest bringing it to someone before trying it yourself. Or at least have someone who knows what they're doing supervise you.

If you want something quick and easy get a good set of coilovers like tein, skunk2, ect. If you want low cost them a spring and strut combo will do. I have tein s tech's with tokico blues on my eg and the ride great.
The biggest thing for you is you will have to remove the top hats from the factory struts and springs and they have a good amount of pressure. I know people will tell you to get a spring compressor, but you can do it with a air gun and a friend standing on top of the spring( lay the spring and strut on the ground flat).

You can get a coil spring compressor from Harbor Freight for like $15. That's where I got mine and I've used it at least 2-3 times and it hasn't failed me yet.
If you're not going to use one, just know that the springs carry enough pressure to severely hurt you or kill you.

Agreed. Not using a spring compressor is a great way to get seriously injured. It's just not worth the risk when spring compressors are so cheap. Metal objects that are storing a few hundred pounds per inch of force are nothing to fuck with.
So go find a friend who is equally stupid, and get them to help you.....?

I am just letting the OP that is can be done, I was not trying to tell them to do it and that it is safe. Some times you have to do something that is not safe to get the job done. Either way I agree that you should have a spring compressor to make it safe.

You could beat Lance Armstrong in a backpedaling race.
Watch, I can say the same thing about changing your oil:
I know people will try to tell you that you need a jack and jackstands, buy you can do it with a 5 gallon bucket and 4 strong friends.
And then:

Questionable doesn't mean completely going against common sense and personal safety.. That's the difference. You're talking about something blatantly dangerous, not something that is merely questionable.

regardless of what I posted it does not mean that people should do it. i was saying that it can be done not that it should be done that way. I agree that a spring compressor is the correct way to do it, and it is on my list of tools to buy for my garage.
