am not sure wat pins my buddy used the jumper wire on however when he did jumped it the pump came on and the car still didnt fire up. wats the chances of the engine being any good if the ecu is not working? not sure if it got damaged in transit or was a straight defective ecu.

Let me try a different approach.
Keep an eye on the LED in the ECU (through the hole on the opposite side of the harness). When you turn the key to the on position, does the LED come on? If so, does it turn off?

So your buddy jumpered the fuel pump, probably bypassing the ECU, so the fuel pump turned on. That really doesn't do anything if the ECU isn't getting power or has some other problem like that. All you've done is make the fuel pump turn on, and you can probably remove the ECU completely and do the exact same thing.

Get a multipler and verify the ECU has power via the harness.
Also, check fuses, but I'd assume you've already done that.
