Just go to Autozone and get a recharge kit. It's cheap and unless your stupid, pretty easy to do.
But if there is an underlying problem (hole in condenser, fucked compressor, fried relay, etc.) then trying to recharge the system would be a complete waste of time and money. Plus if it only needs a charge it should be evacuated then recharged for optimal performance, not just fill the system up without knowing what or whats not in it.
