sadly, auto was the ONLY thing availible in VVTI single turbo form

so, im on the lookout for a r154 trans, flywheel and clutch (same as 2jz)
lmk anyone who finds one, will make this swap easier

gonna try s13 to 1jz mounts from egay
going to have to source a driveshaft, i got the 1j input shaft on the back of the trans, and my stock s12 one, to get it made
new i/c piping, keeping it midmount like the sr
re-using sr20 koyo rad, gonna have some weird coolant hoses
re-locating fuel filter and lines, to the OTHER side of the car, away from that turbo
buy some wide ass wheels
redo rear suspension
stiffer springs up front

The fun has just started. The s13 1j/2j mounts will work. If you have the equipment "a good welder" you can save some cash and make the mounts yourself. They are not complicated at all.

Why the vvti engine over the non 1J?

one turbo seems easier to deal with
motors newer, possibly less miles
revised head/supposbly older 1j's have issues with that and the turbos themselves
front sump
cheap, got a good deal on the swap

i have a welder (lincoln weldpack mcshitty) , id just like to try the mounts, would be nice to know if the work, IDK yet. there like 250$ on egay

From what I have heard is that the mounts make the engine sit a little high and forward. I rather make my own and make it fit low and as far back as possible. We are gonna put a 1jzgte in our s13 240 and keep the stock twins. As far as I know its hard to get parts for the vvti 1j. I havent looked into that, so dont quote me on it. We have the r154, but no 1j yet...lol
