the city websites. You normally have to sign up for the department or citys messaging system. Create and account, etc. Than youll be able to see job posting like fire/ police etc.
Pretty much this is what you can expect for hampton roads.

ALWAYS HIRING. People get burnt out real quick in these cities because they are dual systems and run fire and ems. The guys on the ambulance normally get the hell beat out of them running ems calls all day and all nite. Sometimes they switch at 12 hours intervals, sometimes they dont. If there are senior guys there, they arent riding the box. Theyll be staying on the engine while you get calls all nite long. I know multiple people who worked in all of these depts, most of them have lasted 2-4 years and the are just completely sick of it. They signed up for a fire department job but are just so sick of ems, but unless your grandfathered in you have no choice, your running ems.
Virginia Beach, VERY SOUGHT AFTER. Everybody wants to work in vb cause they get paid the most, they only first respond on ems calls, they run alot of fire and they are seperate from ems. There are usually medic/ff on the engines, and the engines first respond to ems calls if they are available, but the medics on the engine rarely have to ride the call in on the ambulance, it does happen but its not that big of a deal. Vb is tough to get into. The last application process I went to there were like 24 openings and around 4k applicants. You can be on the list for like 5 years before you ever get hired if you pass all the tests.

The beach is getting ready to start an academy, half certified ff's and half non. Chesapeake is also currently running 2 academies and about to start the third here soon, but they are all based off of the same list.
I wonder how long some of those people have been on the list. My buddy josh who works for vb was on the list for 5 years before they called him. They gave him like a weeks notice or something like that, gotta drop everything and be ready to start pretty much immediately. Worth it though.
