I think that "starting" means transitioning from cranking to running. Contextually it doesn't sound like the problem here is a failure to crank.

The simplest way to get to the bottom of this is to get the truck hot, then see what is not working.
Get it hot and check for spark while it's hot, Check for Fuel while it's hot, check your Compresion while it's hot.

I was going to see if I could Google an image of "truck in heat" or something like that to post, but decided against it because I'm at work.
