I'll ring in on insurance. TSCC has $1million in coverage. Which the Navy requires of us. we pay several hundered an event for coverage.

Maybe a few hundred an event, but the annual premium is the nasty one.

In 1991 we paid about $850 for an annual retainer, and $106 per autocross. Now inflate that and you can guess how expensive it can be.

Yes, TSCC used to loan equipment. Trailer and all. Usually there was at least one TSCC member who was also a member of the borrowing club, so there was a responsible person.

And I remember a bunch of joint events. Always worked well.

But with any voulenteer organization, its getting people to join in and assume responsibility; to step up and act.
Not just for one weekend either. Do the newsletter/flyers for a year. Run the checking account. Get trophies. But do it for a year. Inject yourself into the club and have the club do things your way. Make changes from within. that's what I did.

As background, I helped run TSCC for several years back in the late 80's. (newsletters, flyers, treasurer, tropies, event organizer, trailer mover. ACTIVELY involved.) I made the club MY club, and was very happy with the way we had it operating. Sure did like those Thursday Nite Thunder events at the Pavilion.....

Curtis is stepping down from what I understand. I don't know what the whole deal with it is. I think more then likely Zigler will step up. I would do it but there's a very good possibilty I will be leaving the area in the near future for a bigger and better job.

If you guys want to try and pull off a Saturday event with Drag VA only, I might be able to hook you up with the TSCC stuff. I posted another threat about a test and tune, we might be able to do that.

Personally I think you're best bet would be the team challenge thing. There's a lot of bullshit associated with running an autocross club, hidden costs, political hurtles, etc.
