About 4k rpms is when the secondaries should be kicking over. Maybe they're not coming online and the car's just running out of fuel. Don't run it over 4k until you fix the problem, or else you're leaning it out and everyone knows that detonation is the SCOURGE of rotaries.

might be your timing belt. just a suggest. had a friend with a turbo 300z that would lose power like that fixed his timing belt and it was like driving a totally different car. it was nuts
