Damn dude. A schrader valves like a $8 part.. maybe its different for AC's though.. Ive only seen them replaced on fuel/tires

You should really convert to R134, it's like $10 to refill.

yea i figured it was a cheap part which they charged me probably 40 bucks for but thats what dealerships do, im just happy its done right. Yea R12 is expensive as a bit, but it cools much better than R134 and its worse for the environment!

Or just retain the R12 system and use a drop in safe replacement like freeze12. Just as cheap, it's a drop in, it's pretty environmentally friendly, and the best part is, you don't have to pay for any conversion.

The bad part is, you're pretty much going to have to order it online...business and shops make too much money selling the conversion.

and doing that is what trashes my 4 grand AC machine fuckers. Freezone is (if i remember) 65% PROPANE....every blend that i have come across as a "drop in replacement" for R12 is EXTREMELY flammable....

if you dont want to pay a person that knows what they are doing to fix your AC, you are asking for trouble. there are so many things that it could be, its not even funny. as for converting to R134a.....well...it works well on most cars (if done right) and it may take some working to get the expansion rates (ie....the orfice tube or expansion valve) working correctly for the different thermal rates of R134a. not to mention that the molecules of 134 are smaller then R12, meaning they will leak out of hoses easier.

that is why R134a systems use a "barrier hose" that is less permeable and holds it better. not to mention that the Dessicant in the Reciever/dryer or Accumulator is different between the older straight R12 cars and the new style ones that cover both refrigerants (which, anytime the AC system is opened, even for a few minutes, you should change the dryer...one drop of water is enough to ruin the dessicant bag in it)

most of the time, if you fix the leaks correctly in an R12 system, it is easier in the long run (less problems later, and better cooling efficiency) if you keep it R12. and R12 has come down in price average of 25% from last year. so it is cheaper, but still expensive.

as for schrader valves, ones for refrigerant are different then fuel and tire ones. and alot of different manufacturers use a assembly that cannot be replaced as just the core, you gotta replace the whole assembly (or hose!)

my advice is to take it to a REPUTABLE AC shop (or dealer, depending on what you want to do) and keep in mind that most of our customers generally spend anywhere between 250-1500 bucks for repairs!

I was told to take it to bill smiths, off jeff ave, SIextreme is a mechanic at a dealership ( i got it re-charged there ) hoping that would fix it ( btw it is 134 ) but reharging it didnt fix that problem, he didn't know, so i will just take it to someone who just does AC work, i just posted to see if i could get an idea of what it was so i could explain it better if i took it some wheres else , anyways, thanks for the advice guys, and fuck those of you who just rambled in my thread like anal dwelling butt monkeys
