I kind of agree w/ the car mfgs... emphasis on "kind of". There's a quote in that article that says something to the effect of, "We don't want to punish the person who does the occasional auto-x or drag race, but we don't want to fund you weekend racing program either"

I agree that a car should be able to go out and be run hard, but if you race it a bunch, eventually it's going to break and the mfg. really shouldn't have to pay for someone who does auto-x drag racing or HPDE's every dang weekend.

That all said I'm glad I have a warranty, and a full extended one (for free from GM), and a tech that'll fix her if she breaks no questions asked.

 

Oh yeah... you all act like the cars should take a beating over and over and not break, then if it does the mfg should foot the bill. Look at real race cars. They get messed w/ and worked on after every race, and these are cars that are supposed to be up to the task.

I do however think it's fucking horrible to be searching for names on the SCCA or going to races or drag strips to deny coverages.

Hard to police. However I won't be a/xing with Monica. 5 year warranty. Then maybe the Greddy kit. I have to take her in because the passenger window on auto up closes, then opens 6 inches. Weird. Brian said I could drive his car...did you mean just drive it or a/x it? Ha-ha. Hell I don't even wanna ride with you when you a/x. You're nucking futs Bri. I almost shit my pants.

 

If anything even remotely associated to the drivetrain ever breaks after they've found out you've been racing, they'll just laugh in your face.

 

agreed. i had a warranty on my old talon and the tranny went out 3 times. after the 2nd time, they pulled the last rpm reading off of the ecu and saw 7k (redline), they looked at me like i was a complete idiot.

i used to beat the shit out of that car.

 

but im saying anything thats directly affected by racing. what if your ecu or abs or hell you windshield wiper isnt working, they shouldnt be able to deny saftey equipment and other lil things for racing.

 

I guarantee they wouldn't touch your ECU or ABS under warranty after you raced it.

 

They only deny drivetrain etc. coverage... just a part of the warranty, not the whole bumper-to-bumper.

Bill you NEED to get monica out there and throw her around. Cones don't leave anything a little paint cleaner can't remove, and I guarantee Nissan doesn't have spys out there at fricken' pungo.
