No offense, but no guy whos just gotten their license should drive an SRT-4. If you end up not doing something stupid in it and wrapping it around a tree, you'll drive it like shit. Get something older yet reliable so with that in mind, I'd stay away from DSM's unless you plan on taking good care of it and modding it carefully. I'm not a big fan of Mustangs...especially the older ones, but the aftermarket for the V8's is massive so I'd imagine it'd be a really fun project car. I'd personally look for a 97-99 Eclipse GSX, AWD turbocharged cars are badass.

What exactly is a dsm?, stupid question im sure.

hey phill lol, modded cobra vs. stock srt-4 = cobra wins (if it was stock?)

i love them, it doesnt corner too well but come on, ya'll should give credit where credit is due, they are quick little fuckers But yes....its just a neon hehe

i think eclipses look so aggressive.

I could always look for a fox body 5.0

Stands for Diamond Star Motors, joint venture between mitsu and chrysler.

Technically DSM's are any talon, eclipse, laser produced in the plant in Illinois.

any of the above produced from 90-99

Galant VR4's I believe are imported over, could be wrong. I read somewhere that the new evo's came from that plany but I could be mistaken.

3kgt's and Stealths arent DSM's the are 3s1's i think or something like that.

but hey, if you wnat a safe car to drive, theres a 2g Talon ESI, over in the for sale section, that claims he can beat a stock GSX with headers, a MUFFLER, and CAI, and its the same price as my car, must be a great deal

i REALLY want an srt-4, but i cant afford the insurance, unless my mom finances it and i pay her the car and insurance money every month. But then it wont actually be my car, even if im paying for it. I really have my heart set on one, but Im scared it might get wrecked because I dont have alot of expirence driving. Whats your oppion? I want one so bad!

I could get an older model mustang GT, and afford the insurance which is cool also

There is a sweet blue durango down the road for only 4 grand, its really sweet too. It'd be good in the winter and moving etc.

<flamesuit> Whats the fastest type of eclipse? I think they look really nice with black rims, dark paint, tint etc. Whats the fastest model out in the older style, like the 97 body style? How much money would it take to get that thing in the 13's?</flamesuit>

I'd prefer to get a stickshift so I can learn it pretty well by the way, any suggestions? I need something I can learn how to mod with, how shit works and if I break it, no big deal.

OR should i keep trying for the srt-4!?

thanks

You sound pretty mature for your age! Most people your age want want want and end up getting something nice then wrecking it. You seem to have your head on your shoulders.

Dude get a mini truck, there is so much you can do, get a 94-96 s series truck, w/ a 4.3L you can do a lot to it and have lots of fun. pluss it's a good first vehicle. you pay crazy insuance and you can get them for faily good prices, then after you have dropped it or bagged it and whatever else the you can get you a real rice burner like a lt1 camaro or something like that.
