Re: AWD gurus.. got a q?
there is alot of debate going on with awd drivetrain loss. frankly...i don't feel like expressing my whole argument here in detail however...
If a car that makes 227 hp w/25% drivetrain loss..that car should be making 170hp. loosing 57 hp in the drivetrain. if that same car is making 600 hp w/25% drivetrain loss...the car in theory should be making 450 at the wheels. You don't just loose 150 hp because you're making more at the crank. Nothing has changed mechanically about the transmission..and yet suddenly 100 more hp is lost through that same tranny out of nowhere??...
I believe that drivetrain loose is not a perportionaly related to hp. Therefor not a fixed percentage.
But it is easier to just think of it as a percentage.

Agree 100%. Put you cant really ever figure out both numbers unless you do engine dyno and chassis dyno.

Re: AWD gurus.. got a q?
When coupled to a manual transmission is typically 15-17% driveline loss. Which is very low for AWD setup
