Thanks for the input, by the way, does anyone know any good dealerships or whatever that sells used bikes?
An OLDER 600 is fine to start off on. If you said you were gonna be going to get an 04 R6 or Gixxer 6 I'd be flaming you from here to next Tuesday! An F2 would be a perfect starter bike.

Is their really that much difference from an older (say early-mid 90's) 600 and the ones currently on the show room floor.

I ask because I've been looking for a 250 or 500 around the area and I've had no luck at all...Their seems to be plenty of older 600's around though. I think I might just opt for an older f2.

There is a big difference in the amount of power produced in the older ones when compared to the newer ones. Not to mention differences in things that cause weight to be an issue. And the newest 600's are fuel injected. Im not sure about kawasaki, but yamaha's 600's went FI in '03, Suzuki's went FI in '01.

There is a major difference in the bikes of today. Power is way up and weight is down.

I got a buddy with an 02 250cc ninja for sale. $2k with helmet and only about 2400 miles.

i don't think there is any need to flame him regardless... everyone isn't born into the world with a mass of bike knowledge, you have to rely on your peers to steer you in the right direction if you've got the wrong idea, but sounds like his head is on straight

there really is a big difference in the 600's of today and yesterday, it used to be 600's were "entry" level bikes... today the 600 super sport class is the most aggressively competitive class of motorcycle out there, and they really aren't that, but still not as user friendly has a mid 90's... but also the thing to keep in mind is, the problem with say an '04 isn't that i think you'll go out there and kill yourself the first day riding it because its newer, but when starting your guarenteed atleast one stupid drive way tip over, if you do it on a '95 who gives a shit, pick it up and keep riding... if its a '04 you just ruined a mint condition 9,000$ motorcycle

I have a F2 with some nice mods that will hang right there with newer 600's. I love it. I say go honda, you wont regret it.
