what engines can fit in a crx
Heres my motor swaps i would say to do
D16 "SOHC V-tec" i think it puts out liek 130hp
B16a "DOHC V-tec" 160 hp
B18c1 "DOHC V-tec 180hp"
B18a1 "DOHC non v-tec" 140hp
I would say do any of those, i mean if you want 200whp i would go with a ITR motor or even a LS motor with a GSR or type R head and have like inline or any other good honda shop wire up V-tec so you can have a LS-Vtec motor that will fly. I have seen with my own eyes a LS-Vtec swapped hatch roll on more then 2 type R swaped hatch's so i belive the LS vtec is the way to go when it comes to honda's but like i have said in other forums i really dont know as much as like to know about honda's. I know if i build a Crx like im thinking of doing im going to either do a B16 or a d16 motor either way its going turbo. If i do the SOHC motor im doing a t3t4 turbo and i want to run with JE pistons and eagle rods and run like 12psi boost for the street and like 17 on race gas and hopefully have a 11sec crx maybe a low 12 second crx. I still gotta look some shit up and figure out what goes with what and how does each item work with the motor of my choice. If i was in your place id either do then ls-vtec or do a B16 and just have some fun. The car will be quick regardless and if you want to go even faster run some nitrous or even a turbo or a supercharger if you like that route. ITS YOUR CAR MAKE IT THE WAY YOU WANT SO YOUR HAPPY dont worry about what people say or think as long as your happy with how it works thats all that matters!
i hope this helped some what

Ignore all info in this thread except for what I and Jason posted. Our views are probably different, and I probably know more (no offense) but at least we are trying to steer you in the right direction. Unlike others who just say to do something to do it. If you friend is willing to put a 4g63 into your crx for 800 bucks, please please, give me his number, because for the fabrication that would be needed I can guarantee he will probably spend quite a bit more than that.

would an h22a1 fit?

wow you are wet behind the ears. YOU ARE NEW TO CARS. if you think anything but a honda b or d series is going to fit in your rex for $800. anyway if you were not new, you would know it only takes imagination to know that you can stick anything under the hood. basically anything that will fit between the shock towers, and have the money to fabricate the mounts and other parts need to get the motor to run. i see you failing and going back to what was in the car to start or selling it to some one who knows what they are doing, and them sticking a b20/vtec under the hood and slapping some seriouse @$$ on some body like you who wants to stick a mitsu motor in a honda. laughing my @$$ off at you right now just cause you asked a stupid question before using the search button, then stuck your foot in your mouth.lesson:
-remove foot from mouth
-look first then ask if you can't find the answer
-don't defend yourself if you ask a stupid question and get a stupid answer
-remember most guys responding in this section know what they are talking
about and will be able to spot a newbie (to cars) in an instant.
lesson learned.
two words that rarely come out of a honda owners mouth.
CRATE MOTOR.
270fwhp and 190ft lbs tq out of a 2.1L B18c1 block. and that's out of the box. 4g63. NO. not a no but a hell no. if you want a good CHEAP swap put an B18B in it. good tq and good power for a rex.

b20 or ls block, b16 head with skunk stage 2 cams, unorthodox racing lightweight flywheel, turbo and bov off a 4g63, have a reputable shop make you some piping and tune it for minimun lag. this setup will bring a poop eating grin to your face whenever you hit the gas. in my opinion an h22 in a crx is overkill, but hey your car, your money.
