new car question
the vr6 comes with more luxuries than the g60 like heated seats and side mirrors. the vr6 engine itself is awesome and companies like http://www.eiptuning.com make plenty of performance parts for it but its an expensive engine to mod. the g60 also has a lot of performance parts. http://www.bahnbrenner.com makes a supercharger rebuild kit for the g60 that is pretty good i would look into that. me i was looking for a cruiser so i wanted the slc (vr6) corrado. the g60 has a lighter nose and a stiffer suspension and is better for the spirited driver out the box. if you have some extra cash lying around there are guys that are putting the 1.8t engine into their g60s. alot of the g60s need rebuilding like someone said, but the older vr6s had problems of their own. your going to have to look into it yourself cause i forget exactly what it was. www.vwvortex.com is probiably the best place to go for vw info. gl dude. if youre going to actually race competitively get the 240 there a much bigger aftermarket and the parts are cheaper not to mention its rwd. if your looking for a rare and fast cruiser go for the rado.

I love hearing people talk about corrados that have never actually owned one. I've owned 7 and have worked on many more.
G60s are great when everything is operational that means the charger and motor has been well kept. (it was also available with heated seats, Leather, and sunroof as options)
The heated mirrors, MFA, automatic motorized spoiler, 15" wheels, sporty seats, rear disk brakes, central locking, and 1 touch windows, were standard on all corrados In fact 95% of all corrados have sunroofs that are prone to braking...But I have one without
The VR6 is great when the timing chains, head gasket cooling system are kept up items. ABS was standard on the Vr6 (which in my eyes means less under hood space and more $$$ to fix later)
dollar for dollar in go fast parts the G60 will beat a VR6 initially. in the extreme about of motor money a supercharged or turbo VR6 will eat the g60. You get what you pay for with Corrados. Most have not been well kept and will often cost you $2000+ in you first year alone hell some might say the first 6months or even the 1st month
going fast in the quarter mile gets real expensive as the 02A trannys have diffs that explode when launched hard with over 200 whp/WTQ. Also 2nd and 3rd gear syncro problems are somewhat common too.
Yeah you can drop in a 1.8T or even build a custom 2L turbo its just how much time and cash you have and are willing to invest in a car that is for the most part over weight and with not a whole lot of after market support to make it lighter.
I could go on and on about what breaks or will need expensive maintance but most of the time people will either follow their hearts & buy anyway or they never really loved it to begin with. Corrado owners are people that will usually stick together because they all have to deal with the same things whether they be good or bad. Hell a week before Waterfest (largest VW show in USA) Crez (another corrado owner) and I were heading down to my house to do some interior work on his Lysholm Corrado and we bumped into a guy heading down to Nags Head from Vermont. We found out he was heading up to waterfest the same day as us and we invited him to ride up in our pack. While at the show his tranny gernaded and he has since called me a few times to ask about berformance build ups since I have a good amount of corrado tranny experance. btw he got home on a trailer that his vermont buddies brought down to NJ for one of their other cars. Corrados are the best dream at times and also the worst nightmare at other times.
