Well it's not a GTI, but my girlfriend has an 04 2.0 Golf. We've driven it to Florida and back and pretty much all the time. Never had one problem. I've heard that VW's have "cheap interior" well our 8 month old (85 lb) Rottweiler decided to chase a cat while she was inside the car, ran into a whole bunch of shit and the only damage she did was popped a plastic hole filler off that popped right back in place.

VW's I was thinking of getting one, but I got a TA instead.

Cheap interior? I love my leather wrapped 3 spoke steering wheel, heated black leather sport seats, leather wrapped shift knob and boot, etc.

Stay away from the velour interior. That's all I can say. Some of the lower end models have a problem with the interior coating on some of the things like the control area on the door panels peeling, and things like that, but I wouldn't say the interior feels cheap. I haven't had any peeling in either of my mk4's

If you really want an anniversary addition Greenbrier has two used ones on the lot right now....however they are around the 20k range. As far as VW reliability...all of the ones my wife and I have owned have been great, a few minor isues but not anything that wasn't covered under warranty.

I haven't had any problems with mine.....yet. I'm sure I will soon though, who knows.

I don' think VW have cheap interiors at all....in fact I think that's one of their strong points over Honda and Toyota.

The only interior problem I've ever heard of was with the soft touch coating coming off a few of the panels. This was in the early mk4 cars though.

I have driven a RSX type S and they are nice cars. The interior is nicer in on the VWs and the the power is fairly even IMO. My old 1.8t did 180whp stock. That is about near what a RSX type S should do at the wheels.
