STI stuck in a ditch lastnight?
Well, the stock WRX tires are fine in snow. I drove mine the past two winters and never had a problem. Obviously you will have problems in really deep snow, but in the 2-3" stuff we had around here, I never had a problem. The stock WRX tires are "all weather" tires. The STi tires are Z rated performance tires. Two completely different worlds...

Obviously, someone didn't tell that STi owner that his name wasn't Peter Solberg and that Bridgestone RE-02's are not snow tires...
AWD doesn't do crap in the ice. Four wheels that have power to them slide just as well as two wheels that have power. I was doing 10 mph in my WRX with brand new snow tires on it last night and I was sliding just a tad bit. Just slow the hell down and engine brake with LIGHT pressure on the brake pedal and you shouldn't spin out or break traction.
Just because you have 4 Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive doesn't mean your God when winter comes around. And this last part comes from a guy who has both a 4 wheel drive truck and an All Wheel Drive car.
