thats the point I was leaning to I've seen many ppl make stupid mistakes like that

and to sk8rmike to literally have 0 compression across the board something would to have obviously/visibly gone wrong, he didnt mention smoke, leaks any rattling (seriously bent valves) so I ignored his 0 compression comment. I've seen ppl try and use cylinder leak down testers and complain about no compression. So why dont you leave all options open to him and remind him what to check instead of coming out of your mouth and telling me what to do.

Just for shits and giggles how did you run your compression test and what tester did you use?

also do a valve adjustment for shits and grins. sounds like a valve timing kinda deal. or a broken camshaft or even crankshaft. and be sure to check torque on the head bolts if the head was recently off. if it was and the bolts were re-used, could be losing the headbolts/gasket.

OK not only did I do a compression test and it read "0", you can definately HEAR that it has no compression. It doesn't "crank-crank-crank" it's just one long "craaaaaaaaaank" when you try to start it. I've definately got good fuel and spark. I'm about to take off oil pan and cylinder head here in a few minutes, I'll let you guys know what's up when I'm done. Thanks for the insight everyone.

if you have spark, its not a broken camshaft, and that pretty much rules out a broken crank too. (i have had a crank break before between main journals, cyl 3&4 would go up and down, but the other two wouldnt. was cool as shit )

my bet is going to be either burnt valve(s), bent valve(s) or its out of time. although.....i have had a stopped up convertor cause no compression before. no air out=no air in, no compression ability. took me a few hours to figure that one out!

i am curious myself as to what the cause is. let us know.

use your ears. an engine with no compression is easy to hear.

Just checked a few things, and the timing belt jumped teeth. it was about 45 degrees off. Hopefully it didn't bend any valves. We'll see in a few.

Yeah, if you lose compression, it sounds like taking your spark plugs out and cranking it.

That makes sense, because your valves aren't open/closed all the way if it's off that much. 45 degrees is a shitload, that could be ugly.

OK, it was off somewhere between 45-90 and now it's running fine, doesn't seem to be misfiring. Thank god. I don't know how the timing belt slipped that much all at once, it's almost brand new. I guess I will replace it myself and hope to have better luck. Thanks everyone for the help.
