One piece leathers
if you'd rather have a one piece then thats fine, thats what i use on road courses, but on the street and drag strip i find a two piece so much easier to work with, if you can only afford one suit i think thats a good do-all, especially if you don't already have a leather jacket... but to race you are required to use a one piece and ultimately they should offer slightly better protection
i dont think a back protector is required by most groups, but they all highly recommend one and i would as well

A back protector is required on road courses. Are you telling me you've done track days without one? Which organization was that with?!?!?!?!?
yea i'm not talking about drag racing either... no i've never done a track day with out one... but actually your right, looks like for this year all of the organizations have changed their policy, it used to be all of them said under gear requirements something like "back protector not required but HIGHLY recommended", looks like its mandatory with everyone now
"For participation in track days and the riderschool, you are not required to do extensive safety wiring but some basic safety wiring is required (which include oil fill cap, oil drain plug and oil filter). and water only or approved racing coolant only." from cornerspeed.net

Try going to the Team Promotion or actual track websites. Lockwiring is NOT a requirment for beginner groups.
but its not too hard, the oil fill cap and radiator cap you could cut through with the weakest of drills or dremels, and you can get a pre-drilled oil drain plug from lost dealers and just replace that during a regular oil change, use a large hose clamp for the oil filter... so its really not that big of a hassle, i fully safety wire all my bikes as soon as i get them just for precaution
each organization is different,
it depends with the organization you would want to ride with
TPM and cornerspeed are more stricter than www.nesba.com
