Cyclone motor is a JDM motor, basically the motor that came in the japanese dsm's.

And the numbers arnt even worth talking about, they make such a subtle difference. I've ridden in a cyclone 2g w/ everything else stock and almost the exact same setup as mine, and I felt barely a difference.

 

yea the only difference i am aware of is that it has butterfly valves in the intake manifold that remain closed until a certain rpm/boost or something for torque, then open up extra runners after that, but i think you have to have the "JDM" ecu for it to operate.. basically, its useless on anything but a stock car lol

 

Didn't know they made dsm's in japan.

lol, the cyclone motor came out of the jdm gvr4, as far as dsm in japan.. they were never offered to the jdm market. There are very few eclipse's in japan and those were imported, mostly from europe, I believe.

There are very minimal differences.. the biggest being the extra runners in the intake manifold, which like garen said you have to have a jdm ecu to get it to run properly and it is not worth the trouble. The tranny is also geared differently and they came factory with a 16g.

The DSM guru expressments have begun.

dunno, I have never seen the talon he is talking about... nor have I ever seen turblowedneon's neon. You can't underestimate a dsm really... They are not really heavy cars, they have a strong powerplant when they are running right, and if you back that up by awd then it's not a big surprise that it would outrun several fwd cars. Awd has that advantage, you should know this. Not to mention there are so many free mods you can do to gain upwards to 15-20 extra hp.
