did you check and make sure your spark plug wires are in the right firing order if they are and its still doing it your timing is off......my friends car did the same thing and his plug wires were in the wrong order..

yeah that's what i meant....all ignition parts. coil/ ignitor/ spargplugs...all that shit.

You need to make sure that you have fire at the wires first. If so make sure you have fuel at the rail. If you have both then you should be starting up. Like stated earlier, make ignition timing is correct and check to see if the timing belt was installed correctly. I have never seen flames come out of a t.b. before. That's one hell of a backfire! Do you have a check engine light?

If it is backfiring through the intake it is because the timing is off, your intake cam is advanced. If you think about it, it is firing right, but it is firing when the intake lobe is open causing the "explosion" to come out of the intake manifold. Try resetting your mechanical timing, and remember to route so that you leave all the slack on the tensioner pulley.
